Is it true that a person's pupils will dilate when they see someone they are attracted to?

I read about this somewhere, but I'm not sure how credible the source was.
Answer:
Yes, it's true, but none of the responses so far have really given the most accurate reason for it, so I'll elaborate. Pupillary dilation is called mydriasis and is mediated by the sympathetic component of the nervous system. The sympathetic output is elicited by anything that causes arousal -- fear, emotion, surprise, etc. So, seeing someone you're attracted to clearly fits in this category, and results in sympathetic activation, which causes mydriasis of the pupils. The sympathetic system is also responsible for the other physiological manifestations of attraction, such as increased heart rate, nervousness, increased respiratory rate, etc.
Someone or something, it's true.
I don't know because i never carry a mirror
Yes ,it is very true..heart beat is raised and breath ing is quickened..Kinda like the fright or flight thing.
Pupil dilation:To start off with pupil dilation can indicate liking, interest, attraction or鈥?. intense fear. (we鈥檒l leave out intense fear for another segment). Our pupils dilate and grow when we see someone we are attracted to. Why? Because our eyes enlarge to take more of this person in. This is an unconscious occurrence which we cannot physiologically control. The fun part about this is you are able to tell if someone is interested in you by observing their pupils 鈥?do they expand or contract? Contracting would not be good as it indicates intense dislike. Of course, you need to take the environment into account as well. If you are standing in the sun it may be difficult for the physiological response of pupil dilation to occur. On the flip side, if you are standing in a dark area, pupils will automatically contract, even if there is no liking involved. In addition, remember that some people will have larger or smaller pupils by nature. Dark restaurants induce romance because the dim lights encourage the larger pupils making people more attracted to one another. The fun part about this is that most people do not consciously understand pupil response so you are now one up on a great deal of the population. Studies done indicate as pupil size increases so does attractiveness. For example: models on magazine covers normally have their pupils doctored to give them larger pupils because advertisers know this sells more magazines. Likewise, if pupils appear smaller, it decreases the attractiveness.Interesting tidbit: During the middle ages, women often used a plant extract called Belladonna (Italian for "beautiful lady") To give themselves bigger pupils. They would put drops of the extract into their eyes in order to look more attractive to men - and it worked. The problem was Belladonna was poisonous so the women used Belladonna to look beautiful鈥?. and they did鈥?. and then they would die. Ok, so important points to keep in mind, dilation works in an "unconscious" fashion. Individuals with enlarged pupils are subconsciously seen as attractive, warm, friendly, conscientious people.
yes its true and whats more we are more attracted to people with dilated pupils saw a documentary.they took identical twins and put a solution into the eyes of one to make her pupils dilate.every one in a street survey then chose that girl but couldn't say why they did
yes. why don't you try it.
It is true, this is due to the sudden changes in body chemistry and blood circulation. For example: some people experience cold fingers and some people get a shaky hand. This is blood shifting to the parts of the body where it is required and this causes various effects in the body not just pupil dilation. Breasts expand and you produce more pheromones. etc.
Yes it is true. Psychological experiments have been conducted by touching (i.e. by drawing to make it appear bigger/dilated) a persons pupils alone and presenting the photos to people of the opposite sex. Consistently they had picked out those whose pupils had been touched to appear dilated as more attractive without knowing why. This is one of the subliminal responses that attracts you to people (sometimes of the same sex also).
its absolutely true. sexual arousal causes pupils to dilate.
yes not only that but anything that attracts them that is a function of the eyes
Yes, but it doesnt mean they are going to cheat on you.
