Is ibuprofen dangerous?

Is taking 2 600 mg tablets every 6 hours dangerous?
Answer:
u kiddin its very dangerous its an anti inflammatory dury n at this dose its sideeffects a lethal
very it can give you a stomach bleed,800mg is max dose recommended, this can be taken safely along with 2 paracetamol tablets as well if in severe pain
I wouldn't take more than that 4 times a day for a very short time. These meds can have a very bad effect on your liver and can cause many other problems. Ibuprofen, or Advil is for pain. If you have that much pain look into getting something that is a little stronger.
Yes. Ibuprofen has some uses but it also slows tissue recovery. Once the swelling is under control you should not use it anymore. If you are taking 2 600 mg tablets every 6 hours you are making it difficult for your body to repair muscles, organs, etc.
If you feel the need to continue taking it, see a doctor.
Here's a web site listing some of the side effects that can occur from Ibuprofen.

They come in 800 mg by Rx. The drug has been proven to cause some sloughing of mucosa in the small bowel in some patients. I take 800 mg regularly with not symptoms. Two tablets would be excessive.
Taking too much can cause liver or kidney damage. The bottle I have says don't take more than 1200 mg per 24 hrs. Your proposed dose would be 4 times that.My wife had a bad experience with ibuprofen some years ago. She was having headaches and pain and kept taking the maximum permissible dose for about 2 weeks. It turned out to be too much for her and her kidneys shut down. She gained 20 pounds of water weight in a matter of days, and felt absolutely awful.Once off ibuprofen, her kidneys recovered (and she lost all the weight). But now she takes only Tylenol.
If your doctor is instructing you to take that much ibuprofen, then it is probably okay. You should talk with your physician about your safety concerns, but, rest assured, ibuprofen when taken as directed is an extremely safe medication. Virtually all medications have risks associated with them, and many of the nay sayers warning against ibuprofen wouldn't think twice about downing 5 or 6 alcoholic drinks per day - it is all relative.
Thats a pretty high dose of ibuprofen. The drug is not a pain-killer per se. It is an anti-inflamatory and stops pain by stopping swelling from pressing on nerves. At normal doses there are very few side effects but tha 1200mg every 6 hours you might well get some bleeding into the stomach. Whatever you're taking it for I would recomend you see a doctor to discuss other treatment.

Generally, the oral dose is 200鈥?00 mg (5鈥?0 mg/kg in children) every 4鈥? hours, up to a usual maximum daily dose of 800鈥?200 mg. Under medical direction, a maximum daily dose of 3200 mg may sometimes be used.
Common adverse effects include: nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, salt and fluid retention, hypertension.
Infrequent adverse effects include: oesophageal ulceration, heart failure, hyperkalaemia, renal impairment, confusion, bronchospasm, rash.
Please see the web pages for more details on Ibuprofen.
It's a bit dangerous and mostly just ignorant. NSAID's have a plateau effect, so taking two isn't going to do you any more good than taking one, and your risks of GI bleeding and decreased renal blood flow go up astronomically at that dose. The reason prescription drugs require a prescription is that it puts another layer of security in the system, on the theory that you'll listen to an educated professional in such matters and thereby not do anything stupid.
it depends on how long you've been doing this
any drug, when abused, can be dangerous
