No, and as a pediatrician, it would likewise be difficult for myself to practice medicine on animals.Even amongst the human medical profession, the difference between practicing medicine on a newborn, a 2 year old, a 15 year old, and a 55 year old is vastly different. In each age group, the types of illnesses and their underlying causes are quite distinct, not to mention differences in both their anatomy and micro-anatomy. I wouldn't feel comfortable practicing on a 55 year old, and I'm sure an internist wouldn't be comfortable practicing on a 2 year old. Practicing on a completely different species magnifies these differences even more so.

yes, and no. the vet would have to study up on specific diseases affecting the humans (but learning about one more specie of animal is not that big of a task for a vet); but the biggest problems would be, well, government regulation, and having to deal with junk such as lawsuits and insurance companies.

I don't think that it would be easy. They are highly trained professionals, whom worked hard to get where they are, but practicing medicine on animals is a big difference from practicing medicine on humans. The anatomy is similar, but there are many differences in humans and how medicine is practiced. I think that a veterinarian would require a lot more training to be able to effectively take care of a human, but as far as the simple things, it would be a lot easier.
