is it necessary to take a "human anatomy and physiology" class in college before starting medical school?

i have taken basic biology, zoology, cell biology and genetics.
Answer:
This may come as a shock, but the medical school will teach you anatomy and physiology. You just need general %26 organic chemistry, basic biology, basic physics. Don't waste time learning material that will be repeated in medical school. Get a broad prepatory education.
Hi, its about that time for me to decide the same thing and I
recently researched this question.
It may not be completely necessary to take these
classes. However, I know for a fact that it would definetely
help in medical school, whatever field you'll be in.
Also, it sounds cool :)Vote for me!
depends on what school your going to, it depends on their crickulum (sorry I know I misspelled that word).
yes you must take human anatomy and physiology class before you go to med school because it can help you understand the causes and effects of the problems related to humans.I have taken this class and it was little challenging but i made it...also if you are familiar with latin this class would rock for you.its fun if you want to make it a fun class because after all it just comes down to all the bones, tissues, organs, and ligaments...and the function.we almost felt like we were some amazingly designed machine...hahah but ya seriously taking this class will help you alot to get through MCATs and med schoolllgood luck...
Yes.
ACTUALLYDevil's in the details. It need not be HUMAN anatomy and physiology. As long as you study mammalian anatomy/physiology, it's fine. A common name for a course that studies such is "Organismal Biology".I said orgaNISmal.I took that course (along with its lab, which you should also take!), and I got into a few medical schools....and I assume the ones I didn't get into, I didn't get into because of other reasons...
I guess so, since you're into medicine, and by right should be for Humans (you wanna be a Med student right?) thus it is a fair deal that you should learn about the human body before trying to learn about what goes wrong with it and treating it.Now, I'm not a uni student (im taking a diploma and education in singapore is rather different from the US) but I do think that it's required. I've also taken those modules (cept' for zoology) cos I'm in biotechnology, but I'm currently taking A%26P as well, despite the fact that I don't actually need it... but what the heck, Anatomy's really fun, you get to learn about everything in your body at the anatomical level (duh) which is simpler than the molecular and biochemical level. I'm thinking that it things should fall into place just nicely because you've taken cell biology and genetics; A%26P is the part and parcel of the whole human biology thing.:)
Is it useful? Yes.Is it necessary? No. You will take a class in it your first year or two.Is it required for admission? Not in most medical schools in the United States.I have advised university premeds in the US and a majority did not take a human anatomy and physiology course. While requirements vary by school, the usual minimum coursework requirements in the US are a year of basic biology, a year of inorganic chemistry, and a year of organic chemistry with lab.
It is in your best interest to take it in college. The college course will be much less demanding than the medical school course, and it will help you to know the basics. For example, in college you may need to know the names of all the bones. In medical school, you will need to know the name of every bump and ridge on every bone. It's a big help to already have the names of the bones down.Same goes with physiology. Medical school is MUCH more detailed, and goes a lot faster. Most of your medical school classmates will have had anatomy and physiology, so they will have less trouble with the class.I'd also recommend biochemistry for the same reason.
