is it ok to take tylenol cold medicine if u seem better but want to make sure i hear tylenol can be dangerous?

i was coughing alot this morning and i have classes this week and want to get rid of it as fast as i can
Answer:
Tylenol (acetaminophen) is only dangerous in high doses.Unfortunately, Tylenol cold preps are not going to shorten the length of your cold. The only product currently marketed that has shown scientifically to shorten the length of a cold is Zinc gluconate nasal gel, marketed as Zicam. Only the nasal gel seems to work, not the lozenges or the spray.Be well.Rick the Pharmacist
Take half of what is required. Then you should be fine. If the cold does unfortunately come back, then just start taking normal dosage.
Once upon a time, Tylenol and acetaminophen were almost synonymous. That is no longer the case. Despite rabblerousing in the press and some slick practices in occasional medical "studies" acetaminophen is as safe a drug in normal doses as has ever been made. On the other hand, if you've bought one of those things with a list of ingredients as long as your arm, you're now faced with taking a bunch of not-too-safe drugs in combination when you really don't need them. In a better world, there would be no one-pill-for-every-symptom combination for this very reason. Next time, it'll be a wiser buy to get your ingredients one pill at a time, perhaps acetaminophen for aches and fever, pseudoephedrine if you must for nasal congestion, etc. Since the drugs only treat symptoms, and that not well, it makes no sense to take the drugs to shorten the course, which is quite impossible for any known drug to do.
as long as you used Tylenol for the reason it was intended and as directed and do not exceed the maximum dosage or use it for a duration longer then recommended the drug is fine.
acetaminophen poisoning happens when people take too much all at once. or take the drug longer then they should. this drug builds up in the liver and is fatal if not taken correctly
you seem like your taking it for the reason it was made and as directed . so long as you don't take more then it says to on the package and you i mean you don't take it for weeks on end after all of the cold is gone you will be fine.
people who take the drug in huge amounts are often getting that drug in combination with codeine. a pain killer which can be addictive. so they end up taking it for the wrong reason and far more then they ever should .
normal everyday guy like you who has a cold and not an addict will be hard put to mess up with Tylenol.
