Is blood type necessary anymore?

I read somewhere that they have made it possible to use any type blood for transfusions. something like making all blood a universal type. Can we actually do that now or is it still an expensive process?
Answer:
Maybe in a Science Fiction movie or something, but in real life? I dont think so.never heard of such a thing...www.mayoclinic.com might have a difinitive answer for you.
they can use plasma in care of emergencie and there own blood group is not found
yes
No, it has not been done yet, they have made synthetic blood though that is not type specific.
hell yeah it is are you crazy if you go to japan its like your social there its important to know that
It may be possible in the lab but probably not at yr local hospital yet .. yeah the blood type relating to personality really took off in japan hey ! to the point of being a job interview question ie maybe you wouldnt get the job if you had the wrong type of blood !!
Erm, I am not very sure but i know that till now only blood type O is able to be transfused to all other blood type. They still need to do blood test to determine our blood type in hospital to prevent giving the wrong blood to patients.
Yes, blood type is still very much needed information when making transfusion decisions. An error in this process can lead to death, and synthetic products are still not even close to what the human body produces.
