Is 'buspar' slowing down my metabolism?

I've been taking it for 10days now and my appetite has increased. Is there anything I can do?
Answer:
BuSpar and Weight Gain Celexa and all SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) inhibit or slow down your metabolism. They inhibit specific enzymes in your liver that allow your metabolism to function correctly. If you were already a poor metabolizer, it will even be more pronounced after using an antidepressant. However, after a certain amount of time on an antidepressant, your metabolism will be the same as a poor metabolizer even if you were classed as an ultra metabolizer before using the antidepressant. A side affect of BuSpar can be increased appetite and thus the weight gain.
Buspar probably isn't slowing down your metabolism, but it may be reducing the anxiety/depression that can cause decreased appetite. Are you sure your appetite isn't just returning to normal? What are you taking it for? Buspar is usually prescribed for anxiety, but sometimes by itself or with other drugs for depression. If you have so-called "atypical" depression, where you already eat and sleep too much (instead of being nervous and sleepless), you would probably be better off taking a different (non SSRI) drug such as Effexor or Wellbutrin. Ask your dr.
yes you will be a happy lard *** in about 3 months
